WellStar North Fulton Hospital looks to rebuild its chapel
By Lindsey Petrini, WellStar North Fulton Interim President
The leaders and team members of WellStar North Fulton Hospital actively give back to the community. Here, Lindsey Petrini, the hospital’s interim president, recently walks and raises money for cancer awareness with her brother, Dennis Hogaboom.

Over the years, I’ve participated in a large number of community events and fundraisers. I’ve participated in walks, ran in 5Ks, played in golf and tennis tournaments and attended relays. To show for it, I have a closet full of clothing for different causes. A red dress for heart health, a pink suit for breast cancer, purple shirts for cancer…and quite a few little black dresses for cocktail fundraisers for many more incredible causes.

Part of our hospital’s responsibility as a not-for-profit hospital is to be an active member of our community. It’s why WellStar commits to the metro Atlanta Chapter of the American Heart Association, why WellStar North Fulton Hospital has a Roswell Relay for Life team each year for the American Cancer Society in Roswell and why I eat breakfast every Friday morning with my fellow members of the Alpharetta Rotary Club. A hospital should actively support its community.

What’s most amazing about this relationship between hospital and community is it extends both ways. I am always in awe of how the community so willingly returns that support. It is returned through the time commitments from our volunteers, board members, and patient and family council. It’s returned through gratitude by so many patients and family members who seek us out in their time of need. And now, it can also be returned by supporting the WellStar Foundation.

The WellStar Foundation was established to provide opportunities to show its support for WellStar Health System’s mission to deliver world-class healthcare. This year, WellStar North Fulton Hospital looks to rebuild its chapel through funds raised through the WellStar Foundation. The chapel and the chaplains provide solace, prayer and comfort for patients and families during some of the toughest moments in their lives. The Foundation also provides support to team members who have emergency circumstances. And, the Foundation provides scholarships to team members who wish to further their career in healthcare, helping them provide the best patient care to our community.

Having WellStar Health System here means that you have an active partner who supports and participates this community. And for the many team members, physicians, patients and community members who want to return that support, the WellStar Foundation is a phenomenal way to do that.
