Monika Karakattu, MD, is a board-certified family medicine and obesity medicine physician who provides primary care for adults age 18 and older at Wellstar East Cobb Health Park. She also serves as the Medical Director for the East Cobb and Cherokee Region. Dr. Karakattu is fluent in Hindi and is committed to delivering compassionate, comprehensive care to a diverse patient community.
Dr. Karakattu earned her medical degree from Grant Medical College in Mumbai, one of India’s premier medical institutions. She completed her family medicine residency at the East Tennessee Bristol Family Medicine Program and also holds a Business in Health Care degree from Johns Hopkins University.
Dr. Karakattu provides a full range of primary care services, including preventive health, chronic disease management, and women’s and men’s health. She manages conditions such as COPD, heart disease, sleep apnea, diabetes, obesity, menopause, and mental health concerns. She also performs knee and shoulder joint injections to help patients manage arthritis and improve mobility.
Her greatest passion is weight and lifestyle management. Dr. Karakattu is an active contributor to Wellstar’s Center for Best Health weight management program, a multidisciplinary model that integrates nutrition, exercise physiology, and behavioral health to support long-term success.
Outside of work, Dr. Karakattu enjoys spending time with her family, gardening, practicing yoga, walking, traveling, and shopping.

I know that the doctor is very thorough and takes time with her patients but I would also appreciate if the staff would give an indication when they are running behind schedule. Access Customized Care Plans Online with Wellstar E-Visits
If you’re a MyChart user, E-visits are a convenient way for you to receive care from a Wellstar clinician without needing to schedule an appointment or come to the clinic.
In addition to virtual visits and our Virtual Urgent Care, Wellstar has expanded access to care with E-visits. These visits are completed using our secure patient portal and offer treatment for non-emergency conditions.
Here’s how it works
Through MyChart, tell us about your health concern by answering a few questions about yourself and your symptoms, then a primary care clinician will respond in MyChart with your care plan.

How to start your E-visit
Log on to MyChart and click Symptom Checker from the menu in the top left of the screen. Select your condition and confirm you are currently located in Georgia. We’ll ask for information about your medications, allergies, health history and preferred pharmacy so that our team can tailor care specifically for you. Next you’ll see the estimated cost for your visit. Finally, click Submit to contact our care team. One of our providers will follow up with your care plan.
