Dr. started an argument as soon as she sat down. There was no eye contact, she never smiled and left the room before I could order medicine refills or talk about needing a gynecologist.

My check-in time was 12.45 for a 1.00pm appointment. I arrived at 12.40 and was told it was too early and to sit and wait until 12.45. Nobody else was in the waiting room and there were two people doing nothing behind the desk. I was finally asked to check in at 12.55. What kind of crazy rule is this. Then of course I don't get to see the doctor until 1.20.

I did not feel like Dr. Barfield listened to me and certainly did not get enough history. I felt as if she dismissed the notion of mental health and acted in a judgmental manner. She left the exam room as I was attempting to address my concerns and phobia of needles after she stated we would do bloodwork at the next appointment. She dismissed my fear and even rolled her eyes, making it clear that she did not care about my fears and that she has no regard for patient autonomy. Her manner throughout the appointment made me uncomfortable, and her refusal to speak to me respectfully about my phobia prompted a panic attack. At check out, a receptionist escorted me to an exam room where a nurse sat with me until I could breathe more normally and could walk to my car. As someone with a true phobia of doctors and medical things, I never look forward to a medical appointment, and I have had panic attacks on more than one occasion. But those attacks have always been caused by procedures. This appointment was the only time a medical practitioner's behavior has prompted a panic attack. The other professionals at this location were kind and very competent, but I will not see Dr. Barfield again or be back to that location.

Wellstar’s Center for Best Health Opens New Office in North Fulton
Patients in North Fulton who need weight management assistance have a new option, with providers who will support them at every step of their journey.
Dr. Sunkireddy is the physician overseeing this Center for Best Health location, and she is welcoming new patients to both primary care and the Center for Best Health.
The Center for Best Health offers a comprehensive approach to weight management and includes behavioral health, nutritional therapy and dietician services, medication management, meal replacement through Optifast and exercise management. When bariatric surgery is an appropriate option, our providers will offer referrals.
Our providers tailor care to each patient’s individual needs and lifestyle, creating the right treatment plan to help each person achieve their optimal health. The interdisciplinary care team includes a physician, dietitian, exercise physiologist and psychologist.

The Center is for people whose A1C is equal to or greater than 6.5, indicating diabetes, or those who have a BMI equal to or greater than 30 with another chronic health condition such as high blood pressure.
