At Wellstar Paulding, our interventional cardiologists evaluate and provide outpatient care close to home for patients with structural heart conditions. We coordinate with Wellstar Kennestone Regional Medical Center when treatment procedures are needed.Cardiac Catheterization
Our interventional cardiologists are specially trained in catheter-based procedures, which offer less-invasive access to the heart through your veins and arteries. Because these procedures eliminate the need for large incisions in the chest, you’ll experience shorter hospital stays, faster recovery and fewer complications. Wellstar Paulding Medical Center has met and seeks to maintain The Joint Commission’s high standards in providing the next generation of cardiac care.As a Joint Commission certified Heart Attack Center, our team of dedicated cardiologists and emergency department clinicians work closely with emergency personnel so we are ready to respond to heart attacks quickly, when every minute counts. This accreditation means you can trust our team to provide fast, effective treatment that can help prevent severe damage to your heart.
Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy Center of Excellence
Hypertrophic cardiomyopathy (HCM) is a genetic disease that causes the heart muscle to thicken and stiffen, making it harder for the heart to pump blood. As a Center of Excellence designated by the Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy Association, Wellstar is one of the leading locations offering comprehensive HCM care in metro Atlanta.
Your personalized treatment plan may include prescribed medication or surgery, including surgical myectomy, alcohol septal ablation and mitral valve repair surgery. We have experience with medications for HCM including myosin inhibitors. Ablation or cardiac surgery, such as an implanted device or a septal myectomy, may also be recommended. These surgeries are performed at Wellstar Paulding Regional Medical Center.

Device Implantation
Wellstar Paulding Medical Center specializes in implanting permanent cardiac devices, such as pacemakers to help control your heartbeat and defibrillators to monitor your heart rhythm. We also provide routine follow-up care, which includes:- Device care. Your electrophysiologist will ensure your device is working properly by adjusting your device settings as needed and checking battery life.
- Therapy. Proper nutrition, healthy lifestyle choices, an exercise routine and medication management all play an important role in your recovery and on-going heart health. After device implantation, we’ll work closely with you to make sure you’re on a path toward healing and improved health.
Cardiac Diagnostics & Imaging
Heart care experts at Wellstar Paulding Medical Center collaborate in a multidisciplinary fashion to diagnose heart conditions. While some tests may be performed in your doctor’s office, you may be referred for more advanced imaging.Our cardiac imaging and diagnostics team helps your team of heart care specialists understand what is causing symptoms. Cardiovascular Behavioral Medicine
Our cardiovascular behavioral medicine team empowers people with heart conditions to achieve their health goals, manage emotions related to their condition and help avoid rehospitalization. Sometimes low mood, panic, overwhelming emotions, difficulties with problem-solving or memory, frustration with making change, and chronic fatigue get in the way of progress. Our heart-focused behavioral health team members use scientifically-supported approaches to help people overcome these barriers.
