While the needs vary from hospital to hospital, at every Wellstar location volunteers are a vital part of the healthcare team, providing essential support to hospital staff and offering caring service to patients and their families. As a Wellstar volunteer, you may staff the information desk, work in the gift shop or assist the nursing staff. Whatever the task, you'll be playing an important role in helping neighbors heal.

You'll get something out of it, too. You'll make new friends and uncover new talents. Teen volunteers learn skills and gain experience that will give them a boost in the world of work. And it's impossible to dismiss that warm, fuzzy feeling that comes from opening your heart and extending a helping hand to people in need.

Wellstar Acworth Health Park

Volunteers assist at the information desks, urgent care locations, physician offices, and other areas as needed. They provide directions, site-specific information, and help patients locate their destination.

Wellstar Cobb Medical Center

Volunteers assist on hospital floors, the Information Desk, Gift Shop, and Women’s Shop. They help families in waiting areas, drive the courtesy shuttle, and serve in the ER, OR, Rehab Units and Pastoral Care.

Wellstar Community Hospice

Hospice volunteers visit with patients at in-patient units as well as home visits. There are many opportunities to serve including: veteran recognition, flower program, bereavement support, music therapy, pet therapy, tea program, 11th hour and administrative support.

Wellstar Douglas Medical Center

Volunteers assist on hospital floors, the Information Desk and Gift Shop. They serve in the Emergency Room, Operating Room, Pastoral Care and all nursing units.

Volunteers work at the Information Desks, Gift Shop, The Women’s Shoppe, ER, OR, Rehab Unit, and mother/baby floor. They discharge patients, drive the courtesy shuttle, and assist in all nursing units, the First Steps program, Mended Hearts, Atherton Place, and Cancer Center.

Volunteers are essential in assisting Wellstar MCG Health Medical Center provide PeopleCare to the CSRA and surrounding areas. Current volunteer opportunities include placements at the Children's Hospital of Georgia, Georgia Cancer Center, ER, Pet Therapy, various nursing units, No One Dies Alone (NODA), Wayfinding Ambassadors, Patient and Family Advisors (PFAs), and other areas as needed.
