VolunTeen Program at Wellstar Paulding Medical Center

Volunteering is a fun activity, with lots of hospital exposure. However, it is also a serious commitment. VolunTeens provide hundreds of hours of valuable service to our patients, visitors and team members. Wellstar Paulding offers volunteer opportunities in a variety of settings, including, but not limited to, customer service, clinical and non-clinical departments, patient transport and wayfinding.

The VolunTeen program is for high school students age 15-18 interested in a career in healthcare. Please note that the teen program is competitive. We offer limited spots to the most qualified applicants. The selection process requires a 15-minute interview, which will occur in April. If you are selected for an interview, you will receive a formal email with all pertinent details. If accepted into the program, you must attend a 2-hour orientation session and complete all required paperwork.

College Students

If you are a college student seeking summer volunteer opportunities, visit our volunteer page and complete the application process. College students must be available to volunteer for 6 weeks during the summer to be eligible for consideration.

May 28th to July 30th, 2024

Becoming a Wellstar VolunTeen

1. Complete the online application.
2. Have your physician sign and complete the Medical Release.
3. Submit a copy of your immunization records to include MMR, DPT and Varicella vaccinations.
4. Have your school counselor complete and sign the School Records Release.

Application Deadline

Please note, all applications submitted after March 11, 2024, will NOT be considered for 2024 year.

Due to the limited number of positions in this program, not all applicants will be accepted. The selection criteria include receipt of a completed application and required documentation, ability to make required time commitment, previous volunteer or community service experience, GPA, student leadership positions, communication skills, and interest in a career in the healthcare field.

Applicants must be able to participate in the entire five-week session, volunteering for one 4-hour shift per week. Shifts are morning and afternoon, Monday through Friday. Service hours will be validated for all participants who volunteer for the full 5-week session (20 hours of service). Please consider whether volunteering will fit your schedule or other commitments. By submitting your completed application, you are agreeing to the program requirements.
