About Us

Wellstar Primary Care in Powder Springs is a hometown practice with physicians, nurse practitioners and office staff with close family ties to the community. We are committed to our patients and want to be a part of their healthy lifestyles. We believe working together with our patients will help them meet their healthcare goals. To help our patients attain their health goals we recommend yearly physicals. All of our physicians are recognized as Bridges to Excellence physicians, certified for their quality diabetes care.

Dr. Jeffrey Cox received his bachelor’s degree in chemistry from Kennesaw State University in Kennesaw, Ga. He received his master’s degree from Georgia State University in Atlanta, Ga. Dr. Cox received his medical degree from East Tennessee State University’s James H. Quillen College of Medicine in Johnson City, Tenn. He completed his surgical residency at Erlanger Medical Center in Chattanooga, Tenn. He then completed his family medicine residency at the University of South Alabama in Mobile, Ala.

Dr. Cox is board certified in family medicine. He is a member of the Medical Association of Georgia, American Academy of Family Physicians and American Medical Association.

Dr. Cox currently is in practice with Wellstar Powder Springs Medical Center.

Dr. Michael W. Christa provides a full range of healthcare services to newborns, children, adolescents and adults. He received a Bachelor of Science from University of Georgia in Athens and earned his Doctorate in Medicine from Medical College of Georgia in Augusta. Dr. Christa completed his Family Practice residency in 1997 at the Memorial Medical Center in Savannah, Ga.
 
He was recognized by the National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA)’s Bridges to Excellence program for their quality diabetes care and management. The Bridges to Excellence program is designed to create significant leaps in the quality of care by recognizing and rewarding healthcare providers who demonstrate that they have implemented comprehensive solutions in the management of patients and deliver safe, timely, effective, efficient, equitable and patient-centered care.
