Wellstar Neurosurgery

I joined Wellstar in August 2010, after spending three years as an assistant professor of neurosurgery at Emory University. I attended medical school at Loyola University Chicago, Stritch School of Medicine. I completed my internship in general surgery at Loyola University Medical Center, where I was named Resident of the Year in 2001. I completed my six year neurosurgery residency at Loyola University Medical center. I have specialty training in complex spinal disease, adult spinal deformity, and spinal oncology. I have training In advanced neuro-oncology techniques for removing brain tumors safely, and In some patients, without making a large incision. I use high definition scopes and video to remove some tumors through small "key-hole" openings in the skull or sinuses. My approach to neurosurgery is best described as patient-centered. I spend time with my patients, and I talk to them, not at them.

Dr. Franklin Lin received his bachelor’s degree in engineering from Duke University in Durham, NC. He received his medical degree from the University of Florida College of Medicine in Gainesville, FL. Dr. Lin completed his internship and neurosurgery residency at the Emory University School of Medicine in Atlanta, GA.

Dr. Lin is a diplomate of the American Board of Neurological Surgeons. He is a fellow of the American Association of Neurological Surgeons, a member of the Congress of Neurological Surgeons and a board member of the Georgia Neurological Society.

Hilarie C. Tomasiewicz, MD, PhD, is a functional neurosurgeon who specializes in the surgical treatment of movement disorders, epilepsy and pain. She joined the Wellstar Neurosurgery Group in November 2022 after serving as an assistant professor of Neurosurgery, Neurology and Neuroscience at Mount Sinai Hospital in New York City.

Dr. Tomasiewicz obtained her bachelor’s degree in biology from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) in Cambridge, MA. She received both her medical degree (MD) and her doctorate in neuroscience (PhD) from the Mount Sinai School of Medicine in New York, where she was elected to the Alpha Omega Alpha Medical Honor Society. Dr. Tomasiewicz completed her neurosurgical residency training at New York-Presbyterian Hospital/Weill Cornell Medical Center and Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center Hospital in New York, NY. She then completed a fellowship in stereotactic and functional neurosurgery and surgical epilepsy at Emory University Hospital in Atlanta, GA.

Dr. Tomasiewicz has specific expertise in caring for patients with movement disorders, seizures and chronic pain.
