Dr. Jessica Bilz is a board-certified breast surgical oncologist who specializes in the treatment of both benign and malignant breast conditions. Dr. Bilz has a special interest in caring for young women with breast cancer, pregnancy associated breast cancer, patients at high risk for breast cancer and patients with BRCA or other inherited genetic risk factors.

Dr. Bilz performs advanced breast surgical oncology procedures including lumpectomy, skin sparing mastectomy, nipple sparing mastectomy, sentinel lymph node biopsy and mapping, axillary lymph node dissection and aesthetic flat closures. She also treats locally advanced breast cancer, inflammatory breast cancer, breast sarcoma, phyllodes tumors, metaplastic breast cancer, angiosarcoma of the breast, male breast cancer and a variety of benign breast conditions. She works closely with a multidisciplinary team that includes medical oncologists, radiation oncologists, genetic counselors, pathologists, plastic surgeons and nurse navigators to ensure coordinated, patient centered care.

Originally from Snellville, Georgia, Dr. Bilz earned her undergraduate degree from the University of Georgia (UGA) and earned her medical degree from the Medical College of Georgia (MCG). She completed her general surgery residency at Atrium Health in Charlotte, North Carolina and went on to complete a fellowship in Breast Surgical Oncology at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas, Texas. She is certified by the American Board of Surgery and is a member of the Society of Surgical Oncology and the American Society of Breast Surgeons.

Dr. Bilz was drawn to medicine by a desire to make a meaningful difference in people’s lives. She chose breast surgical oncology because it allows her to combine technical surgical expertise with long term patient relationships, guiding individuals through complex diagnoses with compassion, collaboration and a commitment to whole person care. She believes it is an honor to care for patients during some of the most vulnerable moments of their lives and is deeply committed to supporting them through every step of their journey, addressing not only the medical aspects of treatment but also their emotional and personal well-being. Her goal is to provide comfort, alleviate stress and ensure each patient feels seen and supported as a whole person, not just a diagnosis.

Outside of work, Dr. Bilz enjoys staying connected to the Georgia community she proudly calls home. She welcomes new patients and accepts most insurance plans.
