I should've been notified that the lab was closed before my visit. I needed to do my glucose test. So instead of calling me to switch my appointment to another location, I wasn't told until I got my vitals taken that they wouldn't be able to do the test. And they asked if I could go to another location to complete it. Initially she recommended the Roswell Rd location which is further away. Then when I told her I'm missing work she recommended the closer hospital location. That should've been the first option. When I get in the room with Shameka Walker she proceeds to tell me I need to fill out a log with my blood pressure readings. I asked why this was being requested now as no one else on the team has asked me to do this. She didn't give me an answer. I got a whole speech about how I have chronic high blood pressure and the risks etc. I already know this. So I told her I don't have high blood pressure. My readings are normal at home and have been here as well. She continues the speech about risks. Not listening to me whatsoever. I asked who to give my paperwork to. She told me the front desk and took my breast pump paperwork. Then gave me back a form. I said no you need both. Then at the end I was asked if I got the glucose drink. I said no one gave it to me. The whole appointment felt very unprofessional and unorganized. She did apologize for the labe being closed. But at this point I'm frustrated and hungry. I haven't had any sugar because of the test. And I need to go to the hospital for the glucose test. I felt unheard and inconvenienced my whole appointment. I've had other midwives on the team that didn't make me feel this way and have done a great job. I hope that this team can take this feedback and reflect on their behavior.
