About Nilay Patel, MD
Dr. Patel received his medical degree from Albany Medical College. He completed his orthopedic surgery residency at the University of California, Irvine. He subsequently completed a fellowship in sports medicine and shoulder surgery at Keck Medicine of the University of Southern California in Los Angeles, California. He is a member of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, American Orthopaedic Society for Sports Medicine, and Arthroscopy Association of North America.

The woman at check-in and the MA were courteous and professional. The X-ray technologist Carla was nice and efficient and Dr Patel was great. He didn't seem rushed, listened and had an actual conversation about the issue instead of a quick talking to.

Yes, hi. My first experience that I had there was my first and only experience I've had with Dr. Patel's office. I thought the staff was fine. I thought the doctor was fine. I thought they were friendly. The only thing I would add is that I was a little surprised that at the front desk before getting in to see the doctor that the receptionist required me to pay a portion up front before I could see the doctor. I was a little taken aback by that because I've been a WellSTAR patient now for years, since about 2019, at least six, seven years. And I've never had any staff, anybody from any of the doctors that I've seen at WellSTAR require payment. She did ultimately get approval from the supervisor that I could go ahead and send a payment a few days later, but that put a little undue pressure on me. I was already
