About Jose Vazquez, MD

Dr. Vazquez is chief of the Antimicrobial Stewardship Program at Wellstar, affiliated with Medical College of Georgia, and chair of the Institutional Review Board at Augusta University. Prior to this he was professor at Wayne State University School of Medicine and senior staff physician at Henry Ford Hospital and Health System, both in Detroit. Dr. Vazquez earned his medical degree from Pontificia Universidad Católica Madre y Maestra in Santiago, Dominican Republic. He completed his internship and internal medicine residency at Chicago Medical School in North Chicago. Thereafter, he completed an infectious diseases fellowship at Wayne State University School of Medicine and is board certified in internal medicine and infectious diseases. Dr. Vazquez is a member of several professional societies and is a co-principal investigator on a National Institutes of Health grant evaluating the oral microbiome of HIV-positive subjects. He has extensively written about various infectious disease topics, especially mycology.

The staff and my doctor have saved my life no less than three times since 2020 having been overwhelmed by MRSA repeatedly. Truthfully I would not allow my health to be trusted to any other doctor or staff, they know my health better than I do and there on top of all my test and medications. My doctor, Dr. Vazquez is by far the most qualified doctor I would recommend in the state and probably in the nation. He needs a salary increase for sure.

This was a follow up to successful treatment of osteomyelitis. I was released. I had bout with it two years ago but lost a toe because of it. Dr Vazquez diagnosed and halted the growth. There was no doubt whom I found it had recurred. I couldn't have asked for a more capable doctor for me
