About Joel Wachs, MD
Dr. Wachs received his medical degree from Northwestern University Medical School in Chicago, after completing a six-year Bachelor of Science/Doctor of Medicine program. He completed his residency at Long Island Jewish Hospital in New York and completed his cardiology fellowship at the University of Chicago.
Dr. Wachs practiced cardiology in South Bend, Ind., from 1984 until 2004, where he was medical director of cardiology at Memorial Hospital. Since February 2004, he has been with Wellstar Medical Group, Cardiovascular Medicine where he serves as medical director. He is currently on staff at Wellstar Cobb, Douglas and Kennestone hospitals.
Dr. Wachs is a fellow of both the American College of Cardiology and the College of Chest Physicians. He is board certified in cardiovascular diseases and has a particular interest is congestive heart failure.

It's quite comforting to know a doctor has our best interests in mind when treating us. I have trusted Dr. Wachs for many years since he discovered my need for a stent and then later assisted in diagnosing my husband's need for a quadruple bypass. Lifesaving!

Unusually long wait time to see the Doctor. Told to arrive at 2:00 for 2:15 appointment. Didn't see Dr. Wachs until 3:30/3:35. I understand that there are emergencies sometimes that can't be avoided. But over an hour is excessive. I happen to have had another appointment at four that I ended up being late for.

I arrived over 15 minutes early for my appointment, as requested. I wasn't taken back to the exam room until about 15 minutes after my scheduled appointment time. I then waited another 15 to 20 minutes before the doctor came in. I understand that delays happen, but this was a significant wait for an early morning appointment. I would appreciate greater attention to keeping appointments on schedule.
