Dr. Del Fabbro came to Augusta University from Virginia Commonwealth University, where he served as the Endowed Chair for Palliative Medicine. He received his medical degree from the University of the Witwatersrand in Johannesburg and completed his residency in internal medicine at Barnes-Jewish Hospital in St. Louis. After a fellowship at MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, he joined the department of Palliative Care and Rehabilitation and co-founded the Cachexia Clinic at MD Anderson. Later, he was appointed VCU program director for palliative medicine, establishing a comprehensive clinical program. Dr. Del Fabbro’s research interests include clinical trials for patients with cancer-related fatigue and weight loss, interventions for delirium, mitigating the risks for opioid misuse, and managing opioid side effects and neuropathic pain in cancer. He has received funding from the American Cancer Society and the National Institutes of Health to explore the effect of testosterone replacement on patients with cancer.

This experience with Dr. Del Fabbro was good, but I am becoming very frustrated with Wellstar Health System.

My Doctor had a plan all figured out, one that with as a byproduct, would help decrease the pain I have been having with another issue. He made me feel comfortable with being able to reach out for any help or questions as I go down this new road. He has taken into account all of my issues. I am very appreciative of his plan and how many issues it will make better. He is very easy to talk to, and is very knowledgeable in handling my case. Finding the actual office was very difficult. But all the offices we went in by mistake, had personnel that were kind and helpful. It took us 3 tries before my driver could find it. Once we arrived, the staff confirmed that we were in the correct building and kindly checked me in. Your employees in the buildings we mistakenly went to we very kind and did their best to help us.

The whole team right from me coming in the door, the staff was extremely helpful and kind despite my late arrival due to heavy construction. The Doctor came right in and listened to all my thoughts, then he asked me very pertinent queries about my prescription, how it was working, and kindly made suggestions to update my Rx. He also said that I could reach out to him as I needed to. Every person I came in contact helped lower my BP and put me at ease. 10 out of 10 stars!!!
