Let me start by saying that the nurses and staff at this location are very nice and helpful. I have only good things to say about them. This is totally about Dr. Edson Alexis. He did not follow the guidelines given to him for my surgery clearance for cataract surgery. I was on a deadline to get the paperwork submitted to the surgery coordinator at the eye doctor. The cover letter clearly stated that labs were only at the discretion of the Dr. They were not needed for the surgery clearance. Due to the timeline, the labs were not going to arrive in time for me to be cleared. I relayed the info to him from the surgery coordinator that labs were not needed. He refused to accept her message AND to follow the info on the letter in his possession. Instead he required the surgery coordinator to FAX her message before he would submit my clearance paperwork. I had already been cleared back at the end of October and he had access to that as well. The surgery coordinator told me that she has been in this job for 30 years and has NEVER had to write a letter to a doctor that labs weren't needed... because the info is clearly stated in the cover letter with the surgery clearance paperwork. Dr Alexis is not my PCP. He almost made me miss my surgery that had been scheduled since November 2025. His actions were the straw that broke the camels back for me concerning Wellstar. I am actively seeking a PCP with another health system. Wellstar has proven unsatisfactory for me as well as friends who have had bad experiences. So this is my farewell letter to Wellstar.

I would prefer to have a email doctor. I intend to take care of myself and retain a healthy lifestyle. I have a stressful job. The last 2 visits, I'm stressed going in and more stressed when I leave in addition to the following day. A doctor's visit for preventive maintenance shouldn't be this stressful. Any advice will be appreciated.
