About Deborah Karp, MD
Having completed a 3-year fellowship in Urogynecology at Cleveland Clinic in Florida, Dr. Karp has expertise in caring for women with pelvic floor problems including pelvic organ prolapse, urinary and bowel incontinence, postpartum pelvic issues, menopausal problems, voiding difficulties, defecatory and sexual dysfunction, and vaginal fistula to the surrounding pelvic organs. She has a full set of complementary skills to offer a range of non-surgical and minimally invasive surgical options to patients.
She provides personalized, compassionate, and comprehensive care to patients with an emphasis on patient education and understanding pelvic health as it relates to childbirth and aging. She has a particular interest in childbirth related pelvic floor problems and has previously developed and overseen a Pelvic Health after Pregnancy Program in Atlanta, Georgia. She has been instrumental in developing surgical programs focused on surgical training and education in Gynecologic Robotic surgery.
Dr. Karp graduated from Dartmouth College cum laude and then earned her medical degree at The University of Chicago where she also did her Obstetrics and Gynecology residency training. She then underwent a 3-year fellowship in Female Pelvic Medicine & Reconstructive Surgery/ Urogynecology at Cleveland Clinic in Florida.
She has authored over 25 peer-reviewed publications and has performed basic science and clinical research at several prestigious universities as well as the National Institutes of Health in Bethesda, Maryland. She is also the recipient of multiple awards for teaching and research including Excellence in Teaching Gynecologic Surgery at Emory University, and Best Urogynecologic Surgical Video and the Kurt Semm Award for Excellence in Laparoscopy from the Association of Gynecologic Laparoscopists (AAGL), and Best Abstract for Clinical Research in Urogynecology from the International Urogynecology Association (IUGA). She has had a multitude of leadership positions within IUGA focusing on the dissemination of awareness and education in pelvic floor problems in women internationally. She has received numerous patient satisfaction awards from Press-Ganey and American Registry, Vitals.
Dr. Karp has a passion for travel and service. She has traveled to Guatemala on an annual basis to provide gynecologic surgical care to women in need, and has provided gynecologic teaching, medical, and surgical care to women all over Africa including in Ghana, Ethiopia, Tanzania, and Mozambique.

Dr. Karp is one of the most thorough doctors I've ever been with. She doesn't rush you, but she processes everything, gives you answers, and you feel she knows what she's doing, and I would highly recommend her. I will be probably having my second surgery with her, and there's none any better than her, in my opinion. So I definitely would recommend Dr. Karp to anyone. She's very professional, she knows what she's doing, and you feel comfort that somebody is listening to you and understanding what the problem is.

When the doctors are on time, but there is not enough rooms to see patients and people have to wait 2+ hours to see a doctor that is ridiculous. My appointment was at 9:45 and I did not leave there until 12 and I wasn't pulled back into a room until 1120. This practice needs more space or needs to only book compared to the rooms that they have available.

The care was great but I literally sat in the waiting room for two hours before being seen. I arrived 15 minutes early as requested being aware that if I was over 15 minutes late my appt could be cancelled. I respected your requests making sure all paperwork was completed on time and following arrival times. There was about a two month span in order to get the appt. Everyone was very nice and they offered drinks and snacks, but if the wait is going to be that long, the respectful thing towards patients would be to either call patients and have them arrive later or let them know when they arrive the expected wait so that they could go get a quick lunch or run an errand.

The information I received at the front desk after I left said that showed some results of my blood work that I don't remember her discussing with me and my urine, blood in my urine, and I wasn't understanding that. And I'm hoping to hear if my insurance covers all this because one time it did not before. But she's a very, I want to reuse her because I used her a long time ago and she's a very thorough person and seems to really work hard. And I'm very impressed with her as her profession. I just, I don't know about everything else that goes on. It's just too much computer that I don't think that people are getting. You know, it's not her fault. It's just this.

My appointment was at 9:30, I arrived and was taken back right away to be told doctor was running behind. Last visit I waited 3 hours to be seen, this time one hour 10 minutes later. Seems to be consistent problem. Desiree is a wonderful caring nurse. During my wait, she kept checking on me and keeping me updated.

The care was great but I literally sat in the waiting room for two hours before being seen. I arrived 15 minutes early as requested being aware that if I was over 15 minutes late my appt could be cancelled. I respected your requests making sure all paperwork was completed on time and following arrival times. There was about a two month span in order to get the appt. Everyone was very nice and they offered drinks and snacks, but if the wait is going to be that long, the respectful thing towards patients would be to either call patients and have them arrive later or let them know when they arrive the expected wait so that they could go get a quick lunch or run an errand.

When the doctors are on time, but there is not enough rooms to see patients and people have to wait 2+ hours to see a doctor that is ridiculous. My appointment was at 9:45 and I did not leave there until 12 and I wasn't pulled back into a room until 1120. This practice needs more space or needs to only book compared to the rooms that they have available.

Dr. Karp is one of the most thorough doctors I've ever been with. She doesn't rush you, but she processes everything, gives you answers, and you feel she knows what she's doing, and I would highly recommend her. I will be probably having my second surgery with her, and there's none any better than her, in my opinion. So I definitely would recommend Dr. Karp to anyone. She's very professional, she knows what she's doing, and you feel comfort that somebody is listening to you and understanding what the problem is.
