David R. Powell, M.D., earned his medical degree from Howard University College of Medicine in Washington, D.C., after completing his bachelor’s degree in Biology from Howard University. He completed his residency in Family Medicine at Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital in Albany, GA. Dr. Powell is board certified in Family Medicine and is a member of the AMA, AAFP, and GAFP.
Dr. Powell specializes in a wide variety of medical conditions and diseases and provides services and treatments for patients ages 18 and up. He offers preventative care, acute care, and chronic disease management. He has a special focus on Diabetes, Hypertension, and Hyperlipidemia. Dr. Powell strongly believes in treating patients with the same respect, time, and dedication that he would expect to have committed to his own family during a medical illness. He is devoted to empowering patients to improve their health outcomes by educating them about their medical conditions.
In his spare time, Dr. Powell enjoys reading, writing, grappling sports, and spending time with his family.

We know the clinic is new and just starting its work in the community, but it needs to be faster and more efficient with the documents that need to be sent to other departments in the Wellstar system. This is to prevent patients from going for lab tests when the authorization isn't yet in the system. It's just a matter of paying a little more attention to detail.
