We never addressed my stomach pain and the root cause of it. The doctor provided me information on the status of my stomach and esophagus, but there was no discussion on the cause of my ongoing pain and what to do about it. Regarding the endoscopy, I asked ( twice now) if he could have taken a biopsy of my stomach and tested it for 'any' not common infections, etc., that could causing my issues...his answer was no, that was not possible under the normal guidelines of normal practices. Bottom line: I live with pain everyday, because of the ridiculous procedures and guidelines that prohibit doctors from doing simple (not expensive) tests outside the norm, even when I had provided other test results, from other doctors, which indicate a possible concern within my GI track.

This visit was through VA Community Care. I do not pay anything, no co-pays, no nothing. You need to educate your staff. Every time I have a VA CC visit, you send me a bill, and I have to jump through hoops to get it corrected.

He suggested I consider the ERCP, but encouraged me to do my own research because of the possible risks ( which he explained). I had been referred to Dr. Castresana for tests that my gastroenterologist of 25 years didn't have the equipment to run a test that I needed. As of my last visit, Dr. Castresana is my ONLY gastroenterologist! He's smart, professional and patient oriented. So glad I found him!
