Tricuspid regurgitation (TR) is a heart valve disease that occurs when the tricuspid valve does not close properly, allowing blood to abnormally leak backward from the right ventricle into the right atrium. This backward flow prevents blood from reaching the lungs for oxygenation and, over time, can lead to complications such as atrial fibrillation and heart failure.
