Pediatric Imaging at Wellstar
At Wellstar Children’s Hospital of Georgia, our pediatric team employs the latest technology while helping young patients feel comfortable, whether they need imaging for a broken bone or an internal organ. Our skilled radiographers and sonographers have experience in helping babies, children and teens overcome their fears of the large, and sometimes noisy, imaging machines. Trained to administer the proper radiation dosages, we administer the lowest possible exposure for each young patient. If your child remains anxious, we provide pediatric sedation to help calm them so they feel better and we can complete their exam successfully.
We employ the region’s only board-certified pediatric radiologists. Pediatric radiologists are trained to understand children’s unique bone structures and their disease processes. These specialists are the most well-equipped to read and interpret these imaging scans and diagnose diseases and disorders in children.
Families who prefer a more private waiting space may use the patient lounges inside the pediatric imaging suite—a series of cozy nooks illuminated in colorful lights.
For CT scans, children can choose a character to be a test patient for our KittenScanner, a miniature simulation CT scanner. This allows for a show-and-tell opportunity between our team members and your child to explain how the CT scan will work, which helps calm fear and anxiety.

Our kid-friendly touches
Patients are greeted by bright, colorful wall murals as they enter their test room. Our staff lets children choose the lighting color and theme for their room, complete with visuals and sounds.
