Wellstar Administrative Fellowship
About the Fellowship
The Wellstar Administrative Fellowship is a 12-month, project-based program designed to develop emerging leaders in healthcare administration through meaningful, hands-on experience and executive engagement. As one of the largest and most integrated health systems in Georgia, Wellstar offers fellows the opportunity to contribute to high-impact initiatives that advance patient care, operational excellence, and system-wide strategy. Fellows are immersed in a dynamic learning environment, working alongside senior leaders on complex challenges across clinical and administrative settings. Through a combination of project work, mentorship, and exposure to executive decision-making, fellows gain a comprehensive understanding of healthcare delivery – from hospital and ambulatory operations to corporate strategy and service line management.Program Structure
A defining feature of the program is its cohort-based model, offering four distinct tracks that provide a tailored and focused experience.- Corporate: The Corporate track offers exposure to system-level strategy and enterprise operations. Fellows work closely with executive leadership on high-impact initiatives across areas such as strategy, human resources, marketing, compliance, and organizational development. This track provides direct access to senior leaders and insight into decision-making at the highest levels of the organization.
- Hospital Operations: The Hospital Operations track provides an immersive experience within a Wellstar hospital, offering firsthand exposure to day-to-day operations and leadership. Fellows partner with hospital executives and frontline teams to support strategic, operational, and performance improvement initiatives across areas such as nursing, finance, quality, and patient experience.
- Service Line: The Service Line track offers a system-wide perspective on clinical service delivery. Fellows collaborate with physician and administrative leaders to support initiatives that span inpatient and ambulatory settings. This track provides the opportunity to engage in a variety of projects while developing focused expertise within specific service lines.
- Medical Group: The Medical Group track focuses on ambulatory care within Wellstar’s integrated network of physician practices. Fellows work alongside senior leaders on initiatives related to operations, strategy, growth, and performance improvement, while gaining insight into the complexities of managing a large, multispecialty medical group.
