Michael Bursey, DO

Dr. Bursey earned his medical degree at the Edward Via College of Osteopathic Medicine in Blacksburg, Va., and subsequently completed an emergency medicine residency at Wellstar MCG Health Medical Center. He then served as an active duty emergency physician for the U.S. Army at Fort Moore, Ga., where he held several positions including medical director for the Martin Army Community Hospital Emergency Department and medical director for Fire, EMS and Air MEDEVAC assets. Upon completion of his service, Dr. Bursey returned to Wellstar MCG Health to become its first emergency medicine/anesthesia critical care fellow while simultaneously completing a fellowship in clinical ultrasound. He later accepted a position as an associate professor of emergency medicine at Medical College of Georgia and is serving as the clinical service chief for emergency medicine critical care. Dr. Bursey also maintains a joint appointment with the department of Surgery and serves as an intensivist in the Shock-Trauma Intensive Care Unit.
