About Deborah Karp, MD
Having completed a 3-year fellowship in Urogynecology at Cleveland Clinic in Florida, Dr. Karp has expertise in caring for women with pelvic floor problems including pelvic organ prolapse, urinary and bowel incontinence, postpartum pelvic issues, menopausal problems, voiding difficulties, defecatory and sexual dysfunction, and vaginal fistula to the surrounding pelvic organs. She has a full set of complementary skills to offer a range of non-surgical and minimally invasive surgical options to patients.
She provides personalized, compassionate, and comprehensive care to patients with an emphasis on patient education and understanding pelvic health as it relates to childbirth and aging. She has a particular interest in childbirth related pelvic floor problems and has previously developed and overseen a Pelvic Health after Pregnancy Program in Atlanta, Georgia. She has been instrumental in developing surgical programs focused on surgical training and education in Gynecologic Robotic surgery.
Dr. Karp graduated from Dartmouth College cum laude and then earned her medical degree at The University of Chicago where she also did her Obstetrics and Gynecology residency training. She then underwent a 3-year fellowship in Female Pelvic Medicine & Reconstructive Surgery/ Urogynecology at Cleveland Clinic in Florida.
She has authored over 25 peer-reviewed publications and has performed basic science and clinical research at several prestigious universities as well as the National Institutes of Health in Bethesda, Maryland. She is also the recipient of multiple awards for teaching and research including Excellence in Teaching Gynecologic Surgery at Emory University, and Best Urogynecologic Surgical Video and the Kurt Semm Award for Excellence in Laparoscopy from the Association of Gynecologic Laparoscopists (AAGL), and Best Abstract for Clinical Research in Urogynecology from the International Urogynecology Association (IUGA). She has had a multitude of leadership positions within IUGA focusing on the dissemination of awareness and education in pelvic floor problems in women internationally. She has received numerous patient satisfaction awards from Press-Ganey and American Registry, Vitals.
Dr. Karp has a passion for travel and service. She has traveled to Guatemala on an annual basis to provide gynecologic surgical care to women in need, and has provided gynecologic teaching, medical, and surgical care to women all over Africa including in Ghana, Ethiopia, Tanzania, and Mozambique.

My first experience with this office wasn't that good. I sat in the exam room waiting to see her for about 40 minutes. Also, the person that checked me out gave me my discharge summary; the attachment with information about my condition was white on 8 pages. It couldn't be read. I didn't see that until I got home.

I look into the skit, but my only complaint about that office was the wait time. And I understand that she takes ample time with each patient, but I think then they need to schedule patients a little. Apart to give her time so that people aren't quite. But other than that, her nurse staff was amazing. The front desk was wonderful. I don't know.

Dr. KARP is an excellent doctor. I appreciate the great care that she gave me. She seems to take pride in the care of her patients. I would highly recommend her to anyone.

Dr. Karp is a very thorough physician; she listens and take the time to explain procedures and medications. Nurse Tammy Kirk is also attentive and is excellent at returning messages or speaking on the phone. She has a wonderful manner and puts you at ease.

I have recommended Dr. Karp and her staff to many of my friends. Without exception, each staff member treats patients with compassion and caring. Maira is particularly kind while remaining professional. I never feel like just another number at this practice. I wish more medical providers conducted business as Dr. Karp does.

The doctor was very nice and the nurse as front desk. The only negative is I was a new patient and had to wait an hour and fifteen minutes to see the doctor.

I love this staff and the PA the Doctor but was there for 4 hours which is usually not the case but could have been told that the doctor was running late.
