About Amy Elsass, MD
Dr. Elsass is board certified in internal medicine, cardiovascular medicine and interventional cardiology. She completed her undergraduate degree at Albright College in Reading, Penn., and graduated from medical school at MCP Hahnemann School of Medicine in Philadelphia. She completed an internal medicine residency at Duke University in Durham, N.C., and a Cardiovascular Disease fellowship at the Cleveland Clinic Foundation in Cleveland, Ohio. During fellowship, she developed an great interest in general interventional cardiology and went on to complete an interventional cardiology fellowship at Emory University in Atlanta.
Prior to joining Wellstar Medical Group, Cardiovascular Medicine in 2009 as an interventional cardiologist, she practiced for two years as an interventional cardiologist in Columbia, S.C., where she implemented a program for percutaneous structural heart disease intervention at Palmetto Health Richland Memorial Hospital. She also started a program for cardiovascular disease in women. Dr. Elsass is on staff at Wellstar Kennestone Hospital.

I sent a message to her via mychart and the response received from a nurse said to remind the doctor during my visit. The point of the message was so the doctor could have time to review and be prepared. She was unaware that I had received refills on my prescription but even my prescription bottle showed her name. I asked her if I should make any changes to my blood pressure treatment and her curt report was that my PCP is responsible for that.

I was there when they told me to be, I think about 15 minutes before the appointment, and I was the only one there in that side. And the person was about to leave, who was checking me in, end of her day. So I think they may have been the end of the week too. And somehow forgot to put me as registered as that I had checked in. And so somebody else came a while after and went straight back. And after waiting 20 minutes past the appointment time, I went to another desk and just asked, since it was all dark on my side, just wanted to be sure somebody was back there, and they found out I hadn't even been checked in. So just heads up about that one. And I'm sure it was just an accident, and they were tired and ready to go. But anyway, just thank you.
