The Neuroscience program supports the entire WellStar Health System including Kennestone Regional Medical Center, AMC Downtown, AMC South, Cobb Hospital, Douglas Hospital, North Fulton Hospital, Paulding Hospital, Spalding Hospital, Sylvan Grove Hospital, and West Georgia Hospital. WellStar Kennestone Regional Medical Center provides state of the art cutting edge care to patients with spinal disease, brain and spinal tumors and complex cerebrovascular disorders including brain aneurysms, ischemic stroke, hemorrhagic stroke, subarachnoid hemorrhage (ruptured aneurysm), vascular malformations of the brain and spinal cord. WellStar’s bi-plane vascular suite and dedicated Neurosurgical operating rooms are equipped with advanced computerized systems allowing for intraoperative monitoring and highly advanced procedures to treat the most complex neurosurgical emergency and elective surgeries.

The Neuroscience Service Line is proud to be part of the primary stroke center at Cobb Hospital, AMC Downtown, AMC South, North Fulton Hospital and Spalding Hospital as well as the comprehensive stroke center at Kennestone Regional Medical Center. Douglas Hospital serves as a remote stroke treatment center. Neuroscience physicians triage and treat patients with neurological diseases in the WellStar system while striving towards world class health care. Once evaluated, our trained physicians will make the appropriate consultations and possibly refer the patient for transfer to the WellStar Kennestone Regional Medical Center for the highest level of Neurological care.

Our dedicated Neuro Intensive Care Unit with specially trained nursing staff and Neuro Intensivists monitor patient for possible complication following both surgical and non-surgical treatment of neurological diseases. Our staff includes: Neurointensivists, neuro-nurses, neuro- Advanced Practice Nursing team, rehabilitation therapists, pharmacists, neuro-interventional radiologic technologists and respiratory therapists as well as other highly qualified support staff that will assist you on the journey to recovery.
