Safe Kids Cobb County

Safe Kids Cobb County works to prevent accidental childhood injury, the leading killer of children 14 and under. Led by WellStar and Cobb & Douglas Public Health, Safe Kids Cobb County hosts ongoing safety events and education throughout the year to provide parents and caregivers with the information and equipment they need to help keep children injury-free. Safe Kids Cobb County also keeps children safe by offering child safety seat inspections and education.

Safe Kids Cobb County is a part of an extensive network of more than 400 coalitions in the United States and with partners in 30 countries around the world who work to reduce injuries and death from motor vehicles, sports, drowning, falls, burns, poisoning and more.

Accidental Childhood Injury

In the United States and in Georgia, accidental injury is the #1 cause of death among children ages 14 and under.

When a child dies or is seriously injured, the lives of the families and entire communities are changed forever. Around the world, a child dies from an accidental injury every 30 seconds. Millions of other children are injured in ways that can affect them for a lifetime.

These injuries don't have to happen. The important thing to remember about injuries is they are preventable. They often occur in predictable ways and can be completely avoided with the right education, awareness and planning.
