About Li Liu, MD
Dr. Li Liu received his medical degree from Tianjin Medical University and his Ph.D. in Neuroscience from The University of Eastern Finland.
He completed his neurology residency and clinical neurophysiology fellowship at The State University of New York, Downstate Medical Center, New York. He is board certified by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology in Neurology. He is a member of the American Academy of Neurology.
Dr. Liu is currently in practice with WellStar Neurology and Headache Center.
Prior to his neurology residency, Dr. Liu worked as a research fellow at The Taub Institute for Research on Alzheimer's Disease and the Aging Brain, Columbia University Medical Center, New York. His research on the pathogenesis of Alzheimer's disease and related neurodegenerative diseases led to a total of 21 research publications, including articles published in highly prestigious journals, such as Nature Neuroscience, and Nature Communication. In 2009, Dr. Liu received New Investigator Award from The Alzheimer’s Association

The lab work was a complete disaster after the appointment. Up until that point, it was fine, but the lab in the facility was closed, so they sent us with a list of labs, and the first one was just closing as we got there. They closed early. They sent us to a second lab, which is really the third, counting the doctor as the first. That one, we signed in and sat for over an hour, and then we're told, We would never be called if we were not part of rheumatology, so we went to the fourth lab where we were waited on. By then, it was well into the afternoon, so it was a ridiculous entire day just to have blood drawn.
