Dr. Allen obtained her undergraduate degree from the University of South Carolina Honors College. She then continued her studies at the Medical University of South Carolina, where she received her doctorate. Dr. Allen completed her OB/GYN residency at The Medical College of Georgia before joining the Generalist Faculty Division at Augusta University, where she currently serves as the Residency Program Director. She is board certified in OB/GYN by the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (ACOG) and has special clinical interest in menopause, midlife health, and gynecologic surgery. Dr. Allen is a member of both North American Menopause Society (NAMS) and the International Menopause Society (IMS). She is one of only a few NAMS Certified-Menopause Practitioners in the CSRA, in addition to being on the Education Committee for IMS.
In 2023, Dr. Allen completed the Academic Scholars and Leaders Program with the Association of Professors in Gynecology and Obstetrics (APGO) and has been the recipient of numerous teaching awards.

From the front desk to the assistant who did my intake/vitals, those gals provide top-notch, patient-centered care. Dr. Allen is a real gem and her nurse, Brooke was so kind and really went the extra mile providing me with phone numbers to schedule my DEXA scan when we found the receptionist was at lunch. Super helpful.

I brought my new ID and insurance cards to this visit. Upon checking in, I notified the clerk of my new cards. She said the scanner for the cards has been broken for 3 months and cannot take my new cards today. She said that once they bill my insurance, I need to call back and provide the new insurance over the phone. All of this can be avoided if they had working equipment.

It was kind of hard telling a med student my concerns with detail then making sure the doctor got all of the details. I felt like I should have been asked on the front side if I would allow the med student to attend the appointment (the student got half of the time that I wish I had with Dr. Allen). I wish there had been more conversation to help the doctor understand rather than referring me to several places. The body is so interconnected that just my need of sleep for example, could have used the context of conversation about how sleep improved two weeks ago when I was on vacation. That said, I do feel I had time with Dr. Allen, just not as much since the med student took some of that. I do feel she listened in a hurried mode but also trying not to hurry. I know she has to try to stay on schedule.
