About Frank Italiano, MD

Dr. Italiano graduated magna cum laude with his bachelor’s degree in biology from Rutgers University. He received his medical degree from St. George’s University School of Medicine, West Indies. He completed his residency in internal medicine and fellowship in pulmonary/critical medicine at University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey in Newark, N.J. and a fellowship in sleep medicine at Temple University Hospital in Philadelphia, Pa.

He is a member of the American Thoracic Society, American College of Chest Physicians, Society of Critical Care Medicine and the American Academy of Sleep Medicine. Dr. Italiano is board certified in internal medicine and pulmonary medicine. He is currently practicing with Wellstar Pulmonary-Wellstar Intensivist.

The appointment was fine, the doctor was great. The platform that was used did not operate correctly. It was frustrating at first for the doctor and myself in trying to get the audio to work. I was unable to receive the audio properly.

I was sent a text message saying that I had to report to the WellSTAR office in Ackworth, which was 30 minutes away from where I live, and they initially had mentioned the week before there was going to be a tele-op, but I was kind of surprised that I received this text message the day before. So I drove all the way out there, and I get there and find out that the doctor was going to give me a tele-op. So I sat in the office holding a tele-op instead of being able to stay at home. I was not very happy with that. That really ruined the experience. The doctor was great. I'll wait and see what the results are, but I don't know who messed up in the scheduling, but that really made it a bad experience.

I've never done a video call bf and we had some difficulty getting started. I could see and hear the Dr but he could not see or hear me. We tried several different things and it did not work took a good 20-25 minutes to get started. Dr Italiano was very helpful he tried different ways to get us connected. We finally did the call where I could see him and he called my phone and we talked via phone. Even though it took so long to get it to work I did not feel like he rushed it bc we went over. He still took the time explained everything and answered any questions I had. I felt very comfortable with him and liked him very much. I wish all Drs took time like him w/o making you feel like you were in an assembly line.
