About Deborah Karp, MD
Having completed a 3-year fellowship in Urogynecology at Cleveland Clinic in Florida, Dr. Karp has expertise in caring for women with pelvic floor problems including pelvic organ prolapse, urinary and bowel incontinence, postpartum pelvic issues, menopausal problems, voiding difficulties, defecatory and sexual dysfunction, and vaginal fistula to the surrounding pelvic organs. She has a full set of complementary skills to offer a range of non-surgical and minimally invasive surgical options to patients.
She provides personalized, compassionate, and comprehensive care to patients with an emphasis on patient education and understanding pelvic health as it relates to childbirth and aging. She has a particular interest in childbirth related pelvic floor problems and has previously developed and overseen a Pelvic Health after Pregnancy Program in Atlanta, Georgia. She has been instrumental in developing surgical programs focused on surgical training and education in Gynecologic Robotic surgery.
Dr. Karp graduated from Dartmouth College cum laude and then earned her medical degree at The University of Chicago where she also did her Obstetrics and Gynecology residency training. She then underwent a 3-year fellowship in Female Pelvic Medicine & Reconstructive Surgery/ Urogynecology at Cleveland Clinic in Florida.
She has authored over 25 peer-reviewed publications and has performed basic science and clinical research at several prestigious universities as well as the National Institutes of Health in Bethesda, Maryland. She is also the recipient of multiple awards for teaching and research including Excellence in Teaching Gynecologic Surgery at Emory University, and Best Urogynecologic Surgical Video and the Kurt Semm Award for Excellence in Laparoscopy from the Association of Gynecologic Laparoscopists (AAGL), and Best Abstract for Clinical Research in Urogynecology from the International Urogynecology Association (IUGA). She has had a multitude of leadership positions within IUGA focusing on the dissemination of awareness and education in pelvic floor problems in women internationally. She has received numerous patient satisfaction awards from Press-Ganey and American Registry, Vitals.
Dr. Karp has a passion for travel and service. She has traveled to Guatemala on an annual basis to provide gynecologic surgical care to women in need, and has provided gynecologic teaching, medical, and surgical care to women all over Africa including in Ghana, Ethiopia, Tanzania, and Mozambique.

This was my first visit to paulding hospital and I really enjoyed the friendly atmosphere the staff was so nice and pleasant I had the pleasure of having Ms lily to do my scheduling she was so sweet there is no words to explain her wonderful she was thanks Ms lily I really did appreciate your loving kindness and overall the complete staff was wonderful and dr KARP is the best.

I was so uneasy going into this appointment, knowing it was most likely going to end in a needed surgery. Dr. Karp (and her staff) were very extremely nice, extremely professional, and put me at ease right off. Dr. Karp made me feel that I was in the hands of someone, who was not only knowledgeable, but in tune with my case. Although, I was a new patient, it didn't take me any time at all to realize she had reviewed my case and even dug into my past Dr's notes just in the few minutes I had handed them my new patient info, before she walked into the office with me. I had no problem trusting this Dr.

I don't see room to make the practice much better. Everyone is so friendly and makes you feel like you mean something to them. That's because we really do. I've never been to a hospital or doctor's office that's so friendly. The hospital was the first hospital I've ever been to where you didn't feel like a burden to be taken care of. Some hospitals the staff acts like they don't want to work or the people aren't friendly. Some you hear the staff gossiping about other staff even the patients. They'll stand around talking instead of taking care of of the patients like they're supposed to. Making the patients wait long periods of time. Wellstar everyone treats each other with respect and you can really tell the team enjoys their job and working with the other staff members. Everyone worked together to give you a great experience in a hospital. DR karp is a miracle worker. She has always taken time to answer my questions without acting like it's not important. She never rushes out. She's a very patient and kind doctor. She really makes you feel like you're cared about and she always gives you the best of care. Her staff is always so cheerful and makes you feel so welcomed. They are all great. DR karp and wellstar Hospital work together to make your time there as pleasant and friendly as possible. The nurses sent me a get well soon card and signed it and I've never had so many staff members call to check to see how I was doing. Thanks Dr karp and wellstar Hospital

My experience was phenomenal from the time I walked in with the front office staff. Everyone was very attentive. I felt very informed and understood what was going on with my body. The only hiccup in my first visit was my appt was at 2 and I didn't see the doctor until 3:45. It was a very long wait since I had been there since 1:30. Other than that I was satisfied with the visit.

I had a long wait in the exam room and after waiting more than an hour someone finally came in with an explanation that there was an equipment failure during a procedure for another patient which delayed Dr Karp. I was fine with explanation but was not pleased that no one saw fit to say something earlier...I politely made the technician aware of my disappointment. When Dr Karp finally came in, she did not offer any explanation or apology which was another disappointment. I appreciate Dr Karps' professional expertise and experience, but is each patient not of equal value and worthy of respect?

My experience was phenomenal from the time I walked in with the front office staff. Everyone was very attentive. I felt very informed and understood what was going on with my body. So I'm definitely happy to be under her care. And I would definitely recommend this office to anyone that's having similar problems.

The only hiccup in my first visit was my appt was at 2 and I didn't see the doctor until 3:45. It was a very long wait since I had been there since 1:30. Other than that I was satisfied with the visit.

I had a long wait in the exam room and after waiting more than an hour someone finally came in with an explanation that there was an equipment failure during a procedure for another patient which delayed Dr Karp. I was fine with explanation but was not pleased that no one saw fit to say something earlier...I politely made the technician aware of my disappointment. When Dr Karp finally came in, she did not offer any explanation or apology which was another disappointment. I appreciate Dr Karps' professional expertise and experience, but is each patient not of equal value and worthy of respect?

I've been in first with my mom, who's had two surgeries with Dr. Karp, and now for myself. Maira is wonderful. She's very comfortable with and good at her job. She always makes me feel at ease. Dr. Karp explains more thoroughly than any doctor I've ever seen. I'm thankful for them both!

This is an excellent and wonderful practice- I feel that it is groundbreaking!! I am so thankful for the blessing I get from these people!!! Dr. Karp is amazing and superior in every way. Her nurse ( pronounced Myra but I can't spell it) has a great gift of loving service to us. She practices a vocation/ she is called to her work like Dr. Karp is.

I don't see room to make the practice much better. Everyone is so friendly and makes you feel like you mean something to them. That's because we really do. I've never been to a hospital or doctor's office that's so friendly. The hospital was the first hospital I've ever been to where you didn't feel like a burden to be taken care of. Some hospitals the staff acts like they don't want to work or the people aren't friendly. Some you hear the staff gossiping about other staff even the patients. They'll stand around talking instead of taking care of of the patients like they're supposed to. Making the patients wait long periods of time. Wellstar everyone treats each other with respect and you can really tell the team enjoys their job and working with the other staff members. Everyone worked together to give you a great experience in a hospital. DR karp is a miracle worker. She has always taken time to answer my questions without acting like it's not important. She never rushes out. She's a very patient and kind doctor. She really makes you feel like you're cared about and she always gives you the best of care. Her staff is always so cheerful and makes you feel so welcomed. They are all great. DR karp and wellstar Hospital work together to make your time there as pleasant and friendly as possible. The nurses sent me a get well soon card and signed it and I've never had so many staff members call to check to see how I was doing. Thanks Dr karp and wellstar Hospital

I was so uneasy going into this appointment, knowing it was most likely going to end in a needed surgery. Dr. Karp (and her staff) were very extremely nice, extremely professional, and put me at ease right off. Dr. Karp made me feel that I was in the hands of someone, who was not only knowledgeable, but in tune with my case. Although, I was a new patient, it didn't take me any time at all to realize she had reviewed my case and even dug into my past Dr's notes just in the few minutes I had handed them my new patient info, before she walked into the office with me. I had no problem trusting this Dr.
