When I walked into the Wellstar East Cobb Health Park Hospital, I felt welcomed; a feeling of confetti and cheers, indicating, "You're important to us." Even before reaching the Wellstar Hand Surgery Department, when passing every station, if a member wasn't speaking with a patient, they looked my way and greeted me. At the Hand Surgery Department, the front-desk staff was professional and organized, and I relaxed. In the treatment room, where my blood pressure usually rises, the Intake nurse was personable and calming. Yet, Cathy Thomas was a person I was destined to meet, as I had been losing faith in how much I, as a senior, mattered in this current chaotic world. Not only did Kathy have me laughing, but she also listened. She quickly assessed my personality and needs, a characteristic lacking in many well-meaning people, including healthcare personnel. Her questions thoroughly addressed my injury. She explained, clearly, the hand anatomy, what to expect with an injection, and its possible results. Kathy exuded trust, and I felt wholly comfortable during my visit. With diplomacy and aplomb, she also addressed my other healthcare concerns and provided the information I needed. Wellstar must have sent a dozen emails texts and calls not to miss this appointment. I even had to arrive at 15 minutes before scheduled time and this after I completed info in my chart. After all this I had to wait 25 minutes after my scheduled time of 10 am to get started by the technician Not my best experience with a Wellstar practice
