Plan Your Visit
Wellstar Health System seeks to make your stay at its facilities a rewarding and comfortable experience. In addition to world-class medical care, Wellstar wants to make sure you and your family members are an integral and informed part of your treatment and recovery.
About Your Stay
For Visitors
Visitors can be good medicine for patients and family members and friends are welcome to visit. However, patient care is our primary concern. In order to enhance the quality of care, specific visiting hours and regulations have been established for each unit. Visiting hours and regulations are available at the information desk on the main floor. Please be considerate of other patients by keeping visitors to a minimum, particularly in semi-private rooms. If you need additional information, please check with the nurse on the unit.
- Visitors are not allowed to smoke in or around any Wellstar facility.
- Visitors must dress appropriately and must wear shirts and shoes.
- People with colds, sore throats or any contagious diseases should not visit patients. Visitors should remember to follow hand hygiene procedures.
- Visitors should maintain a quiet environment and avoid unnecessary noise.
- Visitors may be asked to leave the room during tests or treatments or when the physician or nurse needs to see the patient.
- Visit lengths depend on the patient’s condition; please be sensitive to the patient’s needs.
- Certain inpatient areas may restrict children or limit the age of children allowed to visit. Please check with the nursing staff.
- If a family member stays overnight, he or she must be of the same sex in semi-private rooms.
- Where allowed, children are welcome to visit but should be attended to at all times. They should also remember to use quiet, inside voices while inside the hospital.
Gifts for Patients
Visitors should check with the nurse before bringing gifts of food or drink to patients. Please check with the nurse to make sure your gift is appropriate.
Parking
Parking for patients and visitors is available 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Patients and visitors are cautioned not to park in restricted areas. Please be sure to lock your car.
We Believe Your Opinion Matters
We want to ensure we addressed your healthcare needs in a timely and respectful manner. You may receive an email, text, or call asking about your visit and we encourage you to take a few minutes to complete the survey. Your participation will help improve our quality of care for future visits.
How to report concerns
We encourage you to take an active role in your healthcare. If you have questions about your safety, please ask any member of your care team. Make sure your caregiver asks your name and other identifying questions and checks your armband before giving medications or treatments.
Hand Hygiene
We believe your health is literally in all of our hands. That means your physicians’ and nurses’ hands, your own hands, even your visitors’ hands. Clean hands are essential to getting and keeping you healthy. Hand sanitizer stations are located in each room and throughout the hospital. Please clean your hands before eating and before touching your medical tubes or any wound, such as your surgery site. If you can’t use soap and water, be sure to use hand wipes after using the restroom and whenever your hands look dirty. Remind those around you to practice hand hygiene, too. Your physicians, nurses and visitors should clean their hands every time they enter your room. Why? Because clean hands mean better health.
Tobacco-Free Environment
Smoking or tobacco use of any kind is not allowed in or around any Wellstar facility.
Medications
All medications you take while in the hospital are prescribed by your physician, dispensed by the hospital pharmacy and administered by a nurse. Patients are not permitted to administer their own drugs or keep personal medications at the bedside. Personal medications may only be taken by order from the admitting physician and are reviewed by the hospital pharmacy. Home medications will be kept in the pharmacy.
Telephones
Telephones are provided in each room. Local calls can be made at any time from the room by dialing 9 and the number. Long distance calls cannot be charged to your room. You can make a credit card call or charge a long distance call back to your home number.
WiFi
Wellstar offers wireless Internet services. Access is available in public areas of the hospital free of charge.
Food Services
Nourishing and well-balanced meals are an important part of your treatment and recovery. Wellstar makes every effort to provide nutritious meals prepared according to the diet prescribed by your physician. The Nutrition and Food Services Department’s Gold Service Plus Program is designed to enhance your hospital experience and to provide excellent customer service to our guests. Through the program, liaisons obtain menu selections and deliver trays to patients’ rooms. Your liaison will guide you daily through the process, from menu selection to delivery of your personalized tray. If a special diet has been prescribed by your physician, your selections will include foods that have been tailored to your specific needs.
Fire Drills
For your protection, Wellstar conducts fire and disaster drills regularly. If a drill occurs while you are in a Wellstar facility, please remain in your room and do not become alarmed. The hospitals are fire-resistant buildings and their staffs are trained in fire protection.
