Sandra Sexson, MD

Dr. Sexson is a professor of psychiatry and pediatrics, as well as chief and training director of child, adolescent and family psychiatry within the department of Psychiatry and Health Behavior at Augusta University. She graduated from the University of Mississippi Medical Center School of Medicine and completed postgraduate training in child development, general psychiatry and child psychiatry. She then worked in child and adolescent psychiatry at Wright State University in Dayton, Ohio, and at Emory University in Atlanta. Her primary professional focus is in psychiatric education, with a clinical and research focus on the education and emotional issues of children and adolescents with chronic medical illnesses. She holds positions on multiple national committees, including as chair of the American Psychiatric Association's Council on Medical Education and Lifelong Learning.
