WellStar’s Congregational Health Network serves as a bridge between our healthcare system and faith communities, offering help with lifestyle changes, personal habits, attitudes, faith and well-being.
Coordinated by a registered nurse with specialized knowledge and experience, WellStar's program assists congregations of all faiths to develop a volunteer health ministry. There is no cost to participating congregations.
The Congregational or Faith Community Nurse does not diagnose or treat ailments, but can recommend further referral to the healthcare system, along with providing prayer, counseling and compassion.
Programs may include heart health, breast cancer awareness, CPR instruction, and senior citizen programs among many others.
Each congregation defines and directs its own health ministry. Currently, approximately 100 faith communities operate congregational nurse programs in partnership with WellStar Health System.
