About the WellStar IPA
The WellStar IPA was formed to promote and drive improvements in patient quality and safety and to provide collaboration and educational opportunities for member physicians. It serves as the primary network of physicians for the WellStar Employee Medical Plan as well as Medicare Advantage and commercial products offered by the Piedmont WellStar HealthPlans.
Joining the WellStar IPA will allow you to collaborate with other community providers to develop innovative healthcare delivery models, strengthen and align physician relationships and, above all, improve the quality and effectiveness of the healthcare provided to our patients. The membership also offers educational opportunities and value-added programs such as access to a group purchasing organization.
Operations are assisted by the WellStar IPA Board of Participant Representatives (BPR), which consists of 12 physician leaders (see below). The BPR has equal representation from WellStar Medical Group physicians and independent community physicians.

The WellStar IPA BPR is exploring the formation of a clinical integration network. Clinical integration is a collaboration between private practice and employed physicians and hospitals to develop initiatives to improve the quality and efficiency of healthcare. Participation creates a high degree of interdependence and cooperation among participants and results in increased patient safety, quality and efficiency of care.
