Introducing Hybrid Imaging with the Philips Precedence SPECT/CT System at WellStar Windy Hill Hospital.

WellStar Windy Hill Hospital has acquired a new hybrid imaging system from Phillips Medical. This technology expands diagnostic and screening capabilities by combining nuclear medicine with multi-slice CT imaging. With the new Precedence SPECT/CT System, Windy Hill Hospital can obtain more advanced clinical images, which can lead to potentially life-saving treatment options for some patients, and rule out serious medical conditions for others.
SPECT (Single Photon Emission Computed Tomography) is a powerful nuclear imaging system that provides unique, critical information that might be missed in other tests. SPECT provides an exceptionally detailed 3D visualization of activity deep within the body, allowing physicians to view structural, anatomic and metabolic details. This new hybrid system is an important diagnostic tool for lung, breast, liver, and other types of cancers; and is also effective for heart, bone, pulmonary, brain, thyroid and renal imaging, by revealing disease states before structural changes occur.
“SPECT/CT is an innovative way to accurately diagnose many diseases using a combination of nuclear medicine and CAT scan technology,” says Brian Gordon, M.D., Quantum Radiology.
