WellStar Cobb Hospital has expanded its operating room capacity by 33 percent with the addition of four state-of-the-art surgical room suites. The suites are equipped with the latest high-definition video and camera systems to allow for better visualization of the internal organs during surgery. The expansion also includes a patient registration area and pre-operative assessment area designed to streamline the process for patients.

Built in 2001 with input from WellStar's team of surgeons, anesthesiologists and surgical staff, The Surgery Center at WellStar Kennestone Hospital meets the community's surgical needs by offering patient comfort, convenience, care and recovery guided by the center's development and design.
Last year, the Surgery Center's team conducted approximately 20,000 surgeries in 20 advanced-technology operating rooms. Each operating room is equipped for all surgical specialties and features technologically advanced lighting, video flat screens and pneumatic powered equipment columns that eliminate the need to move equipment in and out. The Surgery Center also features family waiting areas, private post-surgery conference rooms, a satellite pharmacy, 40 private rooms located adjacent to the operating rooms, and 25 Post Anesthesia Recovery Bays with 24 cardiac monitored bays for first-stage recovery.
The Kennestone Hospital Surgical Services team performs close to 20,000 surgeries each year covering a full range of surgical specialties including:
