Palliative Care is patient and family centered care that focuses on anticipating, preventing, and treating discomfort or distress caused by illness. All types of pain and symptoms are managed throughout the journey of treatment (even non-curative treatment).
Currently, WellStar offers Palliative Medicine consultations at Kennestone Hospital. This program is led by Dr. Alison Krause, a physician board certified in palliative medicine. The palliative care team integrates physical care and the emotional, social, cultural, and spiritual needs of the patient into a holistic care plan.
