Cardiac Continuum: EPISODIC AND EMERGENT CARE
Chest pain is one of the most common reason adults visit a WellStar emergency room (ER). Since “time is muscle,” knowing the warning signs of a heart attack is vital to getting to an emergency room on time. With a coronary interventional procedure taking place in 90 minutes or less from the time a patient arrives to a WellStar ER, quickly restoring blood flow to the heart can minimize or even avoid damage to the heart muscle.
WellStar Cobb, WellStar Douglas and WellStar Kennestone hospitals have the elite certification of being accredited Chest Pain Centers. The hospitals meet the strict criteria established by the Society of Chest Pain Centers with their education component and ability to assess, diagnose and treat patients quickly.
WellStar's ERs are not equipped to provide telephone advice, but to act. If you suspect you are having a heart attack, call 9-1-1. For medical advice, call your primary care physician or call 770.956.STAR (7827) for a physician referral.
