Dr. Giwa completed her bachelor's degree in science and biology at Georgia State University, and received her medical degree at Wright State University Boonshoft School of Medicine in Dayton, Ohio. She completed her internal medicine residency training at the University of Medicine and Dentistry in New Jersey.

Dr. Giwa is board certified in internal medicine and received her certification through the American Board of Internal Medicine in 2009. She is a member of the American College of Physicians and the American Medical Association. and has worked as a hospitalist at WellStar Cobb Hospital and WellStar Paulding Hospital since April 2010.
