Dr. Renz completed his residency in general surgery in Arizona in 1987. He completed the J.D. Martin Surgical Fellowship in Trauma at Emory University School of Medicine/Grady Memorial Hospital. He remained at Grady Memorial Hospital for eight years as teaching faculty and at Emory as associate professor of surgery.
In 1988, Dr. Renz moved to Gwinnett Medical Center to start their trauma service and to assist with their designation by the State of Georgia as a Level II Trauma Center. In May 2011, he moved to WellStar Health System to start a trauma service at WellStar Kennestone Hospital and to assist with their designation by the State of Georgia as a Level II Trauma Center of Excellence.
His specialties include trauma surgery, critical care surgery, complex abdominal surgery, necrotizing pancreatitis, necrotizing fasciitis, and ruptured liver due to HELLP Syndrome.
