Dr. Oyola is a native of the country of Colombia where in 1990 he received his medical degree with honors at the Metropolitan University in Barranquilla, Colombia. In July 1992, he came to the United States to continue his studies in medicine as a resident in internal medicine at St. John’s Episcopal Hospital, University Hospital of the State University of New York in Brooklyn. Dr. Oyola went on to complete his fellowship in Hematology and Oncology at the University of Tennessee in Memphis.
Upon completion of his fellowship in 2001, Dr. Oyola joined Northwest Georgia Oncology Centers, P.C. at WellStar Kennestone Hospital where he currently evaluates and treats patients while actively participating in Clinical Trials and Research as Co-PI for NGOC clinical trials.
Dr. Oyola is the past chairman WellStar Health System Cancer Committee and WellStar Cobb Hospital Credentials Committee. He is currently serving as part of the WellStar Oncology Cabinet. He is also a member of the American Society of Clinical Oncology, the American Society of Hematology, the Cobb County Medical Society and the Medical Association of Georgia.
Dr. Oyola is board certified in Internal Medicine, Hematology and Medical Oncology.
