Dr. Zimmerman is an invasive cardiologist and is board certified in cardiovascular disease. He attended Duke University School of Medicine where he earned his medical degree. After completing his internship and residency at Ohio State University in Columbus, Ohio, he went on to complete a cardiology fellowship at Tulane University in New Orleans. He also completed a fellowship in heart failure and cardiac transplantation at the Ochsner Clinic in New Orleans.
He is on staff at WellStar Cobb, Douglas and Kennestone hospitals. His interests include cardiac catheterization, nuclear cardiology, preventive cardiology, and heart failure. He is a fellow of the American College of Cardiology.
