Bringing an expertise beyond general surgery, Dr. David R. Elwood, is a board-certified general surgeon.
After serving in the Peace Corps assisting secondary school teachers in the Republic of Togo, West Africa, Dr. Elwood received his medical degree from the University of Connecticut School of Medicine.
He went on to complete his residency and internship in General Surgery at the Lahey Clinic Medical Center in Burlington Mass., where he served as chief resident of general surgery. He also completed a fellowship in Hepatobiliary Surgery and Liver Transplantation at the Lahey Clinic Medical Center.
Dr. Elwood’s experience gives the WellStar team depth and expertise in complete solid organ surgery. He is also board certified in liver transplantation and advanced trauma life support.
