Dr. Hughes received his bachelor’s degree in biomedical sciences from Auburn University and his medical degree from the University of Alabama School of Medicine. He completed his residency in internal medicine at University of Alabama – Birmingham.

Dr. Hughes is board certified in internal medicine and pulmonary medicine. He is a fellow of the American College of Chest Physicians and is a member of the American Thoracic Society, American Medical Association and the American College of Physicians.
