Medical Team
WellStar Community Hospice is staffed by an extraordinary medical team as compassionate as they are skilled. The team includes fellowship-trained, board certified physicians, palliative-certified nurse practitioners and registered nurse case managers, many certified in hospice/palliative care.
WellStar Community Hospice Physicians
Dr. Walisa Maynard earned her Doctorate of Medicine from Howard University in Washington, D.C. in 1999. She completed an internal medicine residency at the Medical Center of Central Georgia in Macon, Ga. Dr. Maynard completed two fellowships, one in geriatrics at the University of New Mexico in Albuquerque and one in hospice and palliative medicine fellowship at the Cleveland Clinic.
Dr. Maynard is board certified in internal medicine, geriatrics, hospice and palliative medicine. Her professional interests are in symptom management and hospice care. Dr. Maynard is a member of the WellStar Medical Group Palliative Medicine practice.
Dr. Tsung Hsu obtained his Bachelor of Science in Biology from Emory University in Atlanta and his medical degree from the former Medical College of Georgia in Augusta (now Georgia Health Sciences University). In 2007, Dr. Hsu completed the family medicine residency program at Medical College of Georgia.
From July 2009 to March 2010 he served as chief resident for the family medicine program. He completed his fellowship at Emory University School of Medicine: Department of Hospice and Palliative Care Medicine.
Dr. Hsu is a member of the American Academy of Hospice and Palliative Care Medicine, American Academy of Family Physicians, American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology, American Medical Association and Medical Association of Georgia. He is fluent in Mandarin.
