Diabetes Education
Education is at the core of WellStar's mission. WellStar's Diabetes Services Program helps you prevent the onset of diabetes if you have pre-diabetes, and helps people with diabetes manage their disease and cope with its effects. The program is built on a team of Certified Diabetes Educators, nurses and dietitians, and a social worker, who all provide education, support, and counseling.
Staff
WellStar’s staff is a group of experienced, highly trained professionals. Certification as a diabetes educator requires extensive experience, examinations, and continuing education. Compassion and understanding drive our care. With employee engagement ranking in the top percentile by a recent Gallup® survey, our staff is dedicated to help you improve your health.
Inpatient Education
Inpatient education is often the first instruction in the survival skills needed to avoid emergencies. WellStar Diabetes Educators/Best Practices Nurses are registered nurses specializing in diabetes. They instruct hospitalized patients and their families at WellStar Cobb and Kennestone hospitals.
Outpatient Comprehensive Classes
WellStar's diabetes education program is recognized by the American Diabetes Association. We offer self-management classes frequently for easy accessibility, and you are welcome to bring a guest. A physician's referral is usually required.
