Call 911 for immediate medical attention of a fracture, or broken bone, if you see:

  • Limb or joint appears deformed.
  • The broken limb is bluish.
  • The broken bone is in the neck.
  • The broken limb is bleeding.
  • Bone is sticking through the skin.
  • The broken bone is in the head or back.

Fractures Prevention

  • Get enough calcium and Vitamin D in your diet to build and maintain strong bones
  • Regular weight-bearing exercises, such as walking and running increase bone density
  • Stop smoking, which reduces bone density
  • Proper use of appropriate protective gear when participating in sports and other recreational activities. Wear wrist guards, for example, when inline skating.

  • MRI (magnetic resonance imaging)
  • CT scan (computerized tomography)
