Patient Privacy
The Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) includes rules pertaining to increased and standardized confidentiality and security of health data. HIPAA privacy regulations require that access to patient information be limited to only those authorized, and that only the information necessary for a task be available to them. Personal health information is always protected and kept confidential. Unless otherwise instructed, visitors of WellStar hospitals can be provided the location of a patient and general information about their condition. Visiting Hours & Policies
Visitors are an important part of the hospice experience. We encourage friends and family member to visit as often as possible in view of the patient’s comfort and preferences. There are no restrictions on time of day, length of visit or age of visitor. We encourage all visitors to be thoughtful and respectful of other patients and families.
Smoking
Smoking is prohibited on campus by visitors and families. Safety is our top priority.
Mobile Phones
Cell phones may be used in WellStar Community Hospice facilities. To protect the privacy of our patients and families please refrain from using video, audio and camera devices in public areas.
Pets
Pets whose presence is meaningful to the patient are allowed. Please discuss this with your nurse who will explain guidelines and safety parameters.
Internet
Internet is available throughout the facility. Computers are available in the Family Activity Room for short-term adult use; e.g., to check email.
