Live Well Marietta is a partnership between WellStar Kennestone Regional Medical Center and the City of Marietta aimed at strengthening the health and wellness of area residents. Live Well Marietta connects citizens and local businesses through a common interest in healthy living.
Saturday, September 20, 2014 will mark the Second Annual Live Well Marietta Event being held at the Marietta Square Farmer’s Market in conjuction with the 23rd Annual Marietta StreetFest Event. The event will be held from 9 a.m. until noon and will include fitness activities, a cooking deomonstration and the following free health screenings: blood pressure, cholesterol and glucose fingersticks.
WellStar and the City of Marietta are funding the entire project without tax money and have tailored it specifically for the Marietta community. The success of the program is based on participation by local residents, so come out and support your city, neighbors and family!
Future plans include:
- Interactive “Ask the Expert” booths once a month at the Marietta Square Farmer’s Market focusing on important health topics such as heart health, cancer prevention, healthy eating, physical activity, wellness and more
- Working with local restaurants to identify and offer healthier menu items
- Community partnerships to create communal gardens
- Safe walking paths
